Located an hour's drive outside Melbourne, Australia, the Chateau Yering is situated on 250 acres that borders the Yarra River. Views across the Yarra Valley to the Great Dividing Range are perceptible from the property, which ushers guests in through a rose-bordered driveway that leads to the historic house that was built by Paul De Castella in 1854. The site of the first vineyard in Victoria, Chateau Yering has been fully restored to its former grandeur. There are more than 30 vineyards within a few minutes' drive of Chateau Yering and many of the locally produced wines are featured on the wine lists of the hotel's restaurants.
The property features the fine-dining Eleonore's restaurant with seating for 120 people and Sweetwater Café. Gary Cooper is the Executive Chef at Chateau Yering. His reputation for refined cuisine was developed at Fanny's, Marchetti's Latin, Burnham Beeches, Cotswold House and the Wild Oak Cafe.
