Description
Housed in a 16th century Benedictine abbey, the Abbazia San Pietro in Valle is situated in forested countryside around the River Nera in Umbria. Its unspoilt structure contains the Church of San Pietro in Valle, an Italian national monument containing 13th century frescoes and Roman sarcophagi. The 21 guestrooms feature original terracotta floors, stone walls and beamed ceilings, and all include modern amenities such as direct-dial telephones, satellite television, safe boxes, hair dryers and minibars. Driving Directions
From Fiumicino Airport, take the train to Rome Termini, then a train to Terni. From there, take bus n.21 to Ferentillo, and pick up the hotel's free shuttle bus. The best way to get around the surrounding area is on foot, by mountain bike or car. Driving directions: From the airport, take the highway A1 toward Roma/Florence and exit at Orte. Follow the signs to Terni, then exit at Terni EST. Follow signs for Visso and Norcia, then follow the SS209 for 20km. Pass the village Ferentillo, after 3 km turn left, following the signs for the Residenza d'epoca Abbazia San Pietro in Valle.
