Expert Tip. The flea market on Shortmarket Street has been around as a market of one kind or another since 1710. Originally a farmers' market, it now offers African crafts, jewellery and curios and is host to a myriad of buskers. Flanked by beautiful buildings including the Old Town House, the best time to head here is on a Saturday morning. After perusing the stalls, head for a drink or bite to eat in one of the many nearby bars, restaurants and cafes.

From Cape Town International Airport (CPT):
Distance to Sir Francis is 20 kilometres, approximately 20 minutes' drive.


Getting there.
Taxis are available from the airport's authorised taxi company, Touch Down. Travellers are advised not to use unauthorised taxis. The fare to the city centre is approximately 200 ZAR. Door-to-door shuttle buses are available, and can be pre-booked at arrivals. Prices are subject to change.


Getting around.
Trains and buses run throughout the city, but driving is the best way to get around. Many attractions are clearly signposted, however, parking can be difficult. Taxis are available but can be expensive.


Driving directions. Take the N2 from the airport into the centre of Cape Town. Drive past the turn off to the Waterfront and turn right into Strand Street, which becomes High Level Road, on which the hotel is located.
