Expert Tip. One interesting attraction is the Kula Kai Caverns and Lava Tubes, a labyrinth of lava tubes and caves, carved out over the last thousand years and crisscross the slopes of Mauna Loa near South Point. Tour choices range from a half- hour tour to a more adventuresome 2-hour caving trip. Helmets, lights, gloves and knee pads are included, but sturdy shoes are recommended.
